Effective January 2015, Indiana has a new test for the High School Equivalency, Indiana residents no longer take the GED.  It is now referred to simply as the HSE which stands for High School Equivalency.   The official document students earn is still the Indiana High School equivalency Diploma. Test-takers still need to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of subject matter at the level of a high school senior.  The HSE diploma can be earned after completing a test based on five subject areas including Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies.

The Literacy Center is  offering pre-HSE/HSE Prep classes for FREE! These classes will assist those interested in taking the HSE but would like a review of some basic skills in the subject areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies. The classes are offered free each Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm at The Literacy Center.
