High School Equivalency (HSE)

No topic is too ‘basic’ at The Literacy Center. Whether you need help with algebra or just adding numbers together, we can help. Many students that come to The Literacy Center tend to say our personal touch is the most helpful thing we offer. Every student is given advice on how best to prepare for the TASC test, and is told what the process will look like.

What we cover in the High School Equivalency program:

• Reading

• Writing

• Math

• Social Studies

• Science

​

When signing up, the student fills out some basic information forms, talks with the Education Coordinator, and completes a straight-forward assessment. The assessment isn’t a pass or fail test, but tells us what skills the student has already. 

​

Following this, the student is then able to attend our HSE classes. If the student requires additional support before starting the HSE program, they can be paired with one of our fantastic tutors for some extra help. We are dedicated to supporting each student individually, and help students set personal goals.
